Objekt: NGC1499 Califorina Nebula

The California Nebula is an emission nebula located in the southern Perseus. It is so named because it appears to resemble the outline of the US State of California. Over 2° long on the sky, the nebula is of very low surface brightness. It lies at a distance of about 1000 light years from Eart, its fluorescence is due to excitation of xi Persei (Menkib).
